Type HWT equipment is suitable for use on indoor or outdoor primary circuits where kVAR is required. They may be installed at various load centers or directly at the terminals of 2400, 4160 and 4800 volt motors. Units up to 900 kVAR are available. Permissible ambient temperatures are -40°C to +40°C. Discharge resistors included reduce voltage to 50 volts or less within 5 minutes of de-energization.

Description
Propivar capacitors are used to build capacitor banks for powerfactor correction on medium voltage networks. They allow by their different assembly combination to cover many power ratings depending on the insulation voltage, frequency and harmonic pollution level of the network.

8. Pull Test : Will sustain 2 Kg steady pull in the direction of lead egress and 1 Kg steady pull atany 90 degree angle for 60 seconds.
After test, capacitor shall show no evidence of damage and pass all electrical requirements
9. Damp-heat Test : capacitor are subjected to an environmental test chamber at R.H. 90 to 95 %,operating temperatures for 240 hours.
After the test, capacitor shall be conditioned at room temperature for 2 hours and meet the following criteria:
( A ) Capacitance change shall be less than 3%
( B ) Dissipation factor shall be less than 0.2 %.
( C ) Insulation resistance shall be over 50 % of the minimum requirement.
10. Life Test : ( on-off ) 100,000 cycle ± 5000 times on 2 seconds off 2 seconds at operating temperatures with rated voltage. After the test,the capacitance drift 5 %, dissipation factor 0.5 %, insulation resistance 50%.

These low voltage GEM® type capacitors are designed primarily for the motor requirements of oil field and other pumping installations. Their application, however, may be extended to other motor applications installed indoor or outdoor. Type GEM® OFW capacitors feature multiple cells which are assembled in parallel in a NEMA 3 enclosure. Each capacitor cell features the patented GE Pressure Sensitive Interrupter (PSI) that protects against cell rupture. The metallized polypropylene film dielectric system provides an instantaneous self-healing action and greatly reduced energy losses.
Discharge resistors are included to reduce voltage to 50 volts or less within one minute of de-energization. A 4 ft., 4-conductor flexible cable with watertight connector is provided for easy installation.
Type GEM® capacitors offer high reliability and long life. They are suitable for operation over a temperature range of -40°C to +46°C. GEM® also features Dielektrol impregnant which is a biodegradable Class IIIB combustible fluid. They are available in 240 & 480V up to 30 kVAR.
