When Gas Springs are used, it is often found that theoretical forces will be incorrect because factors such as hinge friction and perceived speed of action will have a bearing on calculations.
Therefore, Arvin Motion Control (AMCL) has devised an adjustable force Gas Spring. Called Vari-Lift (See Below) not only can it be adjusted to meet individual preferences, but it can also be adjusted whilst in position, saving you both time and effort.
These Camloc Gas Springs are charged to their maximum force during manufacture. By using the standard tool provided, Gas can be gradually released via the Vari-Lift valve to provide the force suited to your application. Once this has been established, AMCL, is able to measure this force and provide fixed force Gas Springs to your precise requirement.
WARNING: The force can be adjusted downwards only. (See Vari-Lift Adjustment Instructions for further clarification.)
Camloc Vari-Lift Gas Springs can also be used if panel weights vary. These will then allow you to provide the perfect solution to your customer' needs every time. Spring force ranges from 5kg (11lbs) to 250kg (550lbs) with standard strokes from 40mm (1.57") to 500mm (19.69").
Benefits:
- No Need to calculate force
- Adjustable to any force within the range
- Force can be adjusted after installation
- Simple adjustment using standard tool supplied
- Ideal for Prototyping and short production runs
- Ideal where application weights vary
- Available as an option to most types of ArvinMeritor Gas Springs on request

Proven and Reliable
Gas springs are a proven and reliable method of counterbalancing large covers and objects. They offer ideal capabilities for safely lifting, lowering and positioning heavy or cumbersome objects. More versatile than mechanical springs, gas springs offer your product the advantages of speed-controlled dampening, cushioned end motion, simple mounting, compact size, flat force curve, and a wide range of available forces.
Operating principle of a gas spring
The gas spring is a hydropneumatic adjusting element, consisting of a pressure tube, a piston rod with piston and appropriate connection fittings. It is filled with compressed nitrogen, which acts with equal pressure on differently dimensioned cross-sectional areas of the piston. This produces a force in the extension direction. This extension force can be exactly defined within physical limits through the appropriate selection of the filling pressure.

DICTATOR high-performance push-type gas springs with additional locking
raise objects, hold them in any position desired, and then release them again.
The locking push-type gas springs are available in two types of locking. With cushioned locking the piston rod gives a little in the locked position so the object can recoil. These are easier to manufacture technically and are
therefore the cheaper variety. If the object needs to remain in a fixed
position e.g. hospital beds that tilt, then gas springs with rigid locking must be used.
The locking is released by a pin atthe front of the piston rod.
Dictator furnishes different releasing devices.
Other than the hospital bed shown in the
Locking push-type gas springs are used e.g. in aeroplane seats, drawing boards, hospital beds etc.
DICTATOR locking push-type gas springs can also be supplied with numerous additional´options such as a valve, biological oil, protective tube and oil chamber.

Operating principle
BLOC-O-LIFT® gas springs raise loads with an accurately tuned extension force and application-specific dampening while ensuring user-friendly movement sequences. In addition, BLOC-O-LIFT® gas springs can be blocked in any position, with springing or rigid blocking in the extension or compression direction depending on the design.Variable blocking is made possible by the valve integrated into the piston which separates both pressure chambers gastight. When the valve is closed, thereby interrupting the gas exchange between both pressure chambers, the BLOC-O-LIFT® gas spring is blocked. The valve closes automatically when the valve tappet is released externally. The resilient blocking variant is ideal for the smooth dampening of e.g. shocks, impacts or pulse-type peak loads (e.g. in seats and office swivel chairs).

Kaller Controllable Gas Springs (Patended product) are a family of gas springs, for use in press tools, that can be locked in their bottom position and where the return stroke of the spring can be controlled.
Kaller controllable springs (KF-springs) are a family of gas springs, for use in press tools, that can be locked in their bottom position where the return stroke of the spring can be controlled.
The KF springs can be used where, for instance, the blank holder should be locked in its bottom position to avoid deformation of the formed part or when it's beneficial for the transportation of the part.
The controllable springs are available as 15 kN, 30 kN, 50 kN, 75 kN springs with stroke length from 10 to 160 mm. As the stroke length always has to be fully utilised, the springs can be ordered with any stroke length between 10 and 160 mm (in incremental steps of 1 mm).
For optimal function the full stroke should be used within ± 0,5 mm.
The return stroke of the springs is normally controlled using the control system of the press. The springs can be installed self-contained or connected to a control unit through a hose system. The recommendation is to connect them to a control unit. The basic version of the springs, called KF, will have a small spring back of 1 mm before it comes to a complete stop.

Econoloc Gas Springs eliminate the need for separate safety rods in critical lift-assist applications. They positively lock when fully extended, protecting the operator from potential injury in the unlikely event of Gas Spring failure through overload or misuse.
Simple to use, the lockable gas spring operates automatically. When the Gas Spring is fully extended a spring loaded locking shroud moves into place, preventing the Gas Spring from compressing. The Econoloc gas spring is manually released by applying thumb pressure to the designated area of the locking shroud, allowing the Gas Spring to compress in a controlled manner.
The locking shroud is finished with the same epoxy coating as the Gas Spring body, providing excellent corrosion resistance and an attractive appearance. A guide inside the shroud prevents scratching of the Gas Spring cylinder.
Econoloc Gas Springs combine superior ArvinMeritor quality with the added safety feature required in many heavy duty applications, such as trucks, construction machinery, switch gear and agricultural equipment. A single Econoloc Gas spring can be used in conjunction with a standard ArvinMeritor Swift & Sure Gas Spring.
