M2 CONTROLLER FOR HOT RUNNERS WITH SETPOINT MANAGEMENT
The M2 is a controller designed to meet the special requirements of the hot runners applications. Included functions are: change of the Set point of up to 48 controllers by means of only one digital input, common to all the controllers; the commands are: switching from local to stand-by set point; local Set point step increase; local Set point step decrease. Target set point indication.
In case of sensor break the controller output is automatically locked at a value equal to the average of the outputs of the last 50 seconds of operation.
Selectable continuous Adaptive Tuning or One Shot Fuzzy Tuning. Two displays, three outputs: relay/ssr drive for control and/or alarms. Auto/Manual Station.
The M2 is simple, configurable by code or with software tool.

The E-line controller is composed of a completely wired box and arranged for accepting n.1 or n.2 automatic-manual microprocessor cards.
It is a bench regulator with an electro-zinc-plated steel plate structure.
It is painted with epoxyhydric high-resistance powder. It has got a frontal aluminium panel sheltered by a polycarbonate tag.
The E-line regulator is simple and safe to be used, through:
Display with bright led for the indicator of the temperature measured.
Led for the signalling of the machine functioning.
Signalling of alarm owing to the thermo-couple breakage.
Indication of pre-heating phase on the display.
Possibility of operating in automatic or manual way.

OZARK extrudes insulators from MgO, Al2O3, and HfO2 for use in production of mineral insulated thermocouple cable, cartridge heaters, and other high temperature and electrical applications. Extrusion is a ceramic manufacturing technique which produces any shape with a constant cross section and theoretically
unlimited length. A mix containing the desired ceramic powder and various organic additives is forced through a die opening configured to give the required geometry which may include holes of precise shape and size. The extrudate is subsequently dried, fired, cut, inspected and packaged for shipment. Precise control of process variables is required to obtain high quality extrusions meeting purity, microstructural, and dimensional specifications.

The following features permit the economic manufacture of silicone injection molded articles of high quality both technically and optically:
- The CRS is supplied completely set-up. Standard and special gauges(nozzle spacings permit the individual usage of a CRS for several contour units even with different molded articles.
- Shorter set up times thanks to rapid clamping elements for simple, fast fitting of the contour units to the CRS.
- Fabrication of molded articles with reduced sprue is achieved by precisely defined thermal separation between the cooled CRS and heated contour unit.
- Reduced injection point marking thanks to needle valve controlled feed system ensuring optimum quality of the molded articles.
- Closing of the fee orifice by means of the needle valve system prevents cross linking of the LSR (Liquid Silicon Rubber) in the sprue bush when the unit contour is at high temperature.
- Shorter cycle times thanks to the possibility of high temperatures of the contour unit and therefore variable vulcanization times for standard molded articles and particularly in the case of relatively large mould ed articles.
- Optimum balancing of the multiple CRS by regulation of the mass flow per cavity integral choke units.
- Minimum mechanical load on the liquid silicon rubber thanks to large cross sectional areas of the feed zones.
The single nozzle CRS is financially advantageous alternative to the multi nozzle CRS for the creation of models, prototypes and small runs.

Compared to other systems, the pressure drop is reduced by full orders of magnitude. Everything is possible, up to runner-free injection. You always receive a fully balanced complete system ready for production along with descriptibe documentation and spare parts list.

Features :
-Elements are designed for maximum: Watt density, temperature, heat transfer, and heater life.
-The useful life of a cartridge heating element is determined by how quickly the heat generated in the resistance
wire can be dissipated to the outside sheath. With low and moderate watt density elements, such as Hotwatt's
standard line, the conventional method of inserting helical coils in formed ceramics is an entirely satisfactory
method of construction because the wire temperature relative to sheath temperature even though considerably
higher, is still well within safe long-life operating temperatures.
-The Superwatt cartridge heater accelerates the transfer of heat from the resistance wire to the sheath. This is
accomplished by relocating the wire so that it is closer to the sheath; and swaging the outside diameter of the
heater, thereby compressing the magnesium oxide filler so that it becomes an improved conductor of heat from
the wire while maintaining its dielectric properties. (See diagram below). By improving the heat transfer rate, it
is possible to manufacture elements of higher densities because the differential between the wire temperature
and the sheath temperature has been minimized.

Higher Watt Density and Temperatures
Watt Flex heaters produce up to 50% higher warrantable watt-densities than conventional heaters and can operate at much higher temperatures - up to
1900 degF (1030 degC).
The Watt-Flex Cartridge Heater is a high-quality tubular heating element bent back on itself and swaged into a cylindrical format. Dalton manufactures heaters using only high-purity magnesium oxide, nickel chromium resistance wire and stainless steel terminals.
Special filling methods and equipment compact the magnesium oxide inside and around the resistor coil to extreme density. Swaging further compacts the magnesium oxide to virtually maximum density, which yields high dielectric strength and efficient internal heat conduction. Unlike conventional heaters, Watt-Flex cartridge heaters have no ceramic core that can crack during swaging.
The continuous coil and tightly compacted MgO assure highest watt-density and higher operating temperatures.
Watt-Flex Cartridge Heaters run more efficiently, use less power, last longer and are much simpler and faster to replace than conventional cartridge heaters.

Asso hot runners permit to distribute plastic material into several nozzles by keeping polymer flowing up to the injection point and totally eliminating its slag.

Standard manifolds with 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 cavities:
ALBA, in accordance with its experience in manufacturing thousands of manifolds for hot runner systems, has developed a complete new series of manifolds designed to provide reduced costs and quick deliveries. This series of "standard manifolds" will be available for 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 drop applications. Over 50 standard manifolds will now be available that can be used with nozzles of different diameters and the design of these manifolds allows the flexibility of different channel sizes so that either our type "D" nozzles or our new type "F" nozzles, in the different diameters, can be used. The manifolds are fitted with cal rod heaters pressed into place to ensure even heating of the manifold and provide long heater life. Ceramic connectors are used on the heater leads to provide for the customer easy electrical connections as well as excellent insulation. One or more thermocouples are placed in the manifolds at a position suitable to detect and maintain the correct temperature for the material being processed. Since all of the dimensions for the manifolds and related accessories are available in our catalogue, mold design is greatly simplified and projects can be designed immediately thereby reducing the time to project completion. ALBA will also continue to manufacture its current line of manifolds designed to meet customer requirements for "sandwich" molds, 2 materials or 2 colours, vertical injection for different customer defined applications.

Special manifolds, wired systems and hot halves:
The manufacturing dedicated special manifolds, bi-injection multimaterial, sequential injection, with pneumatic or hydraulic valves, allows Thermoplay to meet the requirements in hot mould construction, applied to automotive, packaging, electronics, medical, electrics, aeronautics, micro-mechanics, hobbies, toys, domestics, etc.
Upon the customer's requirements Thermoplay can supply special hot channels either with the following characteristics:
A. Hot channels inside constraining manifolds (hot-half) which can be directly assembled in the printing plate.
B. Hot channels with electronic and hydraulic wirings, which can be directly assembled in the moulding system, without any further wiring.
C. Special manifolds including nozzles and accessories (ex. injection bushings), not assembled and without wirings.
