Steam Turbines
For nearly a century, Elliott steam turbines have earned a reputation as the most rugged, reliable and versatile drivers in the industry. Combining engineering expertise, rugged designs and precision manufacturing, Elliott steam turbines are built to perform and endure years of continuous service. These powerful workhorses provide exceptional value and performance in a broad range of processing, mechanical and power generation applications, around the clock and around the globe, in environments of every extreme.
Elliott steam turbines come in a variety of sizes ranging from small, 20 hp (15 kW) single-stage units, to large 135,000 hp (100,000 kW) multi-valve multi-stage extraction condensing units. These units can be built to API standards and can be customized to meet exacting customer specifications or other industry standards. With a large selection of both standard and engineered steam turbines and turbine generator sets, Elliott steam turbines boost production in industries as diverse as oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical, pulp and paper, power generation and food processing.

The blade tips of a turbine rotate some 3,000 times a minute and are thus faster than the speed of sound. The blades under extremely high steam temperatures (approx. 620 °C) and pressures (up to 250 bar) are subjected to extreme loads and stresses. Even so, it is expected of steam turbines that they are reliable and perform their work round the clock.
Hitachi, Ltd. has been supplying these kinds of highly efficient and reliable steam turbines for over 75 years now. Hitachi Power Europe's parent company has on offer turbines in the 250 to 1,380 megawatt (MW) rating class. Constant research and refinements ensure that these components belong to the best of their kind across the world.
The components (turbine and generator) are manufactured in the Hitachi works to the NE of Tokyo in Japan. Hitachi engineering teams not only carry out strict quality checks to ensure maximum performance and quality, but also provide ongoing and extensive support for their customers and service/upgrade the turbines.

Superior Turbine Tripping Reliability
The Elliott Pos-E-Stop 203 Trip Block is a technological leap forward in the control of trip valves for steam turbines, hot gas expanders and similar power applications in emergency situations such as overspeed, high vibration or process upset. The Pos-E-Stop Trip Block's flexible "two-out-of-three" logic provides a significantly higher degree of tripping reliability than single or paired solenoid designs, and its best in class response time reduces the tripping interval for enhanced safety. And, the Pos-E-Stop Trip Block has the ability to interface with the master plant control or EDS system.
Features and Benefits
- Improved trip system reliability
- Best in class response time with reduced tripping interval
- Increased availability
- On-line test capability without defeating trip protection
- On-line replacement of critical components without defeating trip protection
- Continuous on-line monitoring of solenoids and valve positions
- Elimination of isolation valves reduces risk of operator error
- Enables trip system standardization across the plant
- Easy to install; simplifies most piping layouts
- Meets hazardous area classifications
- Meets applicable CE directives
