The T1000 is a fully flexible Ethernet switch which is used for digital substations. Using IEEE1588 PTP and Gigabit Ethernet, it provides highly-accurate time synchronization. All the elements needed for the IEC 61850 digital substation network are provided by the T1000 switch. It provides flexible, reliable and robust connections between IEDs, including those which are Precision Time Protocol (PTP) aware according to the IEEE 1588 v2 standard. The T1000 can support a variety of different network architectures due to its flexible, modular design. Up to 12 interfaces, using copper or fiber connections, can be included. Speeds of up to 1 Gbps are allowed which are required in high-end process bus applications. The interfaces can be hot-swapped without the need for reconfiguration. Using PTP protocol, IEDs can be time synchronized over the Ethernet network to an accuracy of less than 1us.
