A digital indicator displays numerical data, usually from its own measurements. It is programmable and either universal or designed for a specific type of measurement.
ApplicationsThese devices are used to display functional parameters in industry, to monitor chemical processes or an electrical installation.
TechnologiesAn indicator usually has an LED display configured in lines of seven-segment digits.
It can measure shunt or transformer current, constitute part of an AC or DC voltmeter, give root mean square (RMS) values, frequency, phase or calculate a cosine phi or apparent or reactive power. It can be fed by a 4-20 mA or 0-10 V signal, directly measure temperature via a two- or three-wire Pt100 probe or thermocouple, or function as a strain gauge or a counter.
This device also can serve as a transmitter. Many include an alarm with dry-contact output and programmable thresholds, hysteresis and time lag. The indicator can function in slave mode when equipped with RS232 or RS422 serial ports. Both DIN rail and built-in configurations are available. Most correspond to DIN dimension standards, full size being 72x144 millimeters.
Choice will depend on the measurements to be made, the indicator's additional functions and its dimensions. Options include 1/4 DIN (96x96 mm), 1/8 DIN (48x96 mm), 1/16 DIN (48x48 mm) and 1/32 DIN (24x48 mm).
