Compression tools are definitely the optimal
solution for safe-process milling of CFRP parts
without delamination or disruption. But the
geometry with combined upcut and downcut
helix implicates also disadvantages: Because of
the danger of clogging the tool, a full slotting
or plunging is not always possible. Furthermore
in many cases it is not possible to regrind solid
carbide compression tools because of the
complex geometry or due to diamond coatings
applied.
