Inclinometer with analog interface
360°, ±70°| FAS-A® MicroStrain

  • inclinometer with analog interface 360°, ±70°| FAS-A® MicroStrain
Overview

FAS-A® measures 360˚ of inclination on one axis or ±70˚ on two axes. FAS-A® works by combining a pair of DC accelerometers with a 12 bit A/D, mux, microcontroller, and D/A converter to provide an analog voltage linearly proportional to inclination; the analog output is proportional to angle. RS-232 output is also available.

FAS-A® has an onboard user programmable infinite impulse response (IIR) digital filter. Once programmed, the IIR parameters live in nonvolatile EEPROM until they are reprogrammed. The IIR filter averages 2x data points, weighting the new data more heavily than the previous data. Such a filter is useful when high resolution static measurements are necessary or when the inclinometer is subjected to unwanted vibration or translational accelerations.

FAS-A® is sold as a starter kit for the first unit purchased, after which, just the module (board with enclosure) can be purchased. The starter kit includes the board, enclosure, software, requisite communications and power cables, power supply and a manual.
