Applications

LVDT displacement transducers are a common choice among engineers in industry today. They can be found in the aerospace industry for flight control actuators, for displacement measurements in vehicles and machines, for gauging applications in servo-actuators, hydraulic-actuators and in many more situations where high reliability and resolution are important.

Technologies

The LVDT sensor is composed of a ferromagnetic core within one primary and two secondary coils. As the ferromagnetic core moves, the induced voltages in the secondary coils changes, creating a differential voltage output.

How to choose

In order to comply with design constraints, manufacturers generally indicate the maximum and minimum stroke length of the transducer's core.
