Type OC, Oldham couplings

Oldham couplings are a good all-around flexible coupling. They exert consistently low reactive forces, even under large radial misalignment, and provide homokinetic transmission (driving and driven shafts rotate at the same speed at all times). These zero-backlash couplings have high torsional stiffness, insulate the two shafts electrically, and are easily installed.

The Oldham coupling is economically priced compared to other couplings with similar performance characteristics, The inexpensive plastic midsection serves as an easily replaced wear element, and also serves as a mechanical "fuse", by shearing under excess load and protecting driving and driven components in overload conditions.

OEP Couplings' type OC Oldham coupling compares favorably with Oldham couplings from other manufacturers in almost every important performance metric. The OEP type OC has higher torsional stiffness, longer service life, and more consistent performance form one coupling to another due to the tighter tolerances achievable with machining, compared to other manufacturer's midsections, which are typically injection-molded.

Machining the midsection also produces a part with less internal stress than molding, and this gives the OEP type OC higher static break torque and higher peak torque than its rivals.
