Description

Liners in control cables are necessary to reduce friction between the cable and the conduit, even when grease is used. The liner design has a strong impact on the life expectancy, the friction, and on the global cost of the control cable. Furthermore, they are exposed to strong conditions: well-known constraints are resistance to chemicals, high temperature or temperature variations. Such liners can be found in a wide range of applications. Especially in automotive, lots of actuators are based on control cables, aka push-pull cable. With more than 20 years experience in liners for control cable, and especially in automotive applications, 3P knows the life expectancy and force applied on the cable are predominant in the choice of a competitive liners. This is why you will find both light and heavy duty in 3P’s range. For example, shifter cables mainly rely on heavy duty cable: they offer low friction along with high life expectancy, so that the driver doesn’t «feel» the cable, but also for speed and efficiency of the shifter. Light duty liners can be found in less demanding applications, that still require low friction and efficiency. 3P offers light and heavy duty liners standard and proprietary PTFE-based compounds. These materials offer : - Best available coefficient of friction - High efficiency - High interface with the cable, for low backlash - Small radius in rooting - High LOI (limiting oxygen index) - Best chemical resistance - Best temperature range for continuous or peak use - Low freeplay due to good tolerances and low elacticity, to lower vibration and noise Liners are also available with options such as jacketing, with PA, PBT or PP.
