Description
Fluometal® is a patented metal-PTFE composite specifically designed for play-free assemblies.
Original patent by 3P consists of a metal mesh plain bearing sandwiched between one or two PTFE layers.
This material offers the exceptional features of PTFE coupled with the mechanical properties of metal (strength and high load resistance) while PTFE allows for a very low coefficient of friction:
- Dry self-lubrication
- Very low friction coefficient - low torque and free from stick-slip
- Dimensional stability
- Excellent thermal and chemical strength - Service temperatures up to 175°C (350°F)
- Suitable for hygiene-controlled environments (eg: food industry)
- Silent operation
- Load capacity up to 50 000 psi (3 400 bar)
Stainless steel is the metal offering the best mechanical strength and perfect resistance to corrosion.
To meet particular technical specifications (chemical or electrical environment), 3P also offers the following materials: bronze, brass, steel.
