Overview
Surface & Shape Scan System is a real-time, contactless inspection solution for strip materials combining surface imaging and 3D profilometry. The solution maps surface defects from both sides and measures flatness using laser-based profilometry, enabling detection of scratches, blemishes, paint defects, ripples, depressions, uneven edges and subtle material deformations.

Surface Scan
Surface Scan uses intense lighting and sensitive line-scan cameras to capture high-resolution images of the material surface from both sides. The system detects minor blemishes, scratches, dirt, paint defects and mechanical damage and supports automatic defect classification via neural network evaluation. The system is designed for easy integration into production lines and provides a clear user interface for operation and output analysis.

Shape Scan
Shape Scan is a laser-based system that projects a perpendicular laser line captured by an angled camera to create an accurate flatness profile. It reveals warping, uneven edges and other shape deformations in real time and is suitable for continuous production monitoring. Modular design allows adaptation to different strip widths and addition of extra scanning units.

Two systems - one solution
Surface and Shape Scan can operate independently or as a single integrated system with shared hardware and unified controls, offering expandability and centralized access to tools and client applications.

Hardware & AI evaluation
The solution integrates industrial hardware and AI evaluation tools including high-performance IPCs with GPU-based image processing, durable camera housings for industrial environments, compact 3D profilometers for profile measurement, and the ArgutrackDNN neural network for automated image evaluation and defect classification.

Detection & Analytics
The system provides defect detection visualization and statistical overviews (counts of sections, OK vs. defected sections) and supports real-time analytics via charts and dashboards to monitor production quality.
