OverviewBaumüller delivers marine charging and shore-power systems for hybrid and fully electric vessels as well as port infrastructure. Solutions cover night and periodic charging, fast-charging stations and complete shore-power installations. System architectures are adapted to vessel type and operational profile to optimise berth integration and grid impact.
Charging solutions & flexibilityModular architectures allow manual plug-in charging, CCS2-equipped fast chargers, automated pantograph/telescopic charging via cranes and customised interfaces. Optionally integrated battery storage at berth reduces grid demand and enables cost-optimised charging sequences.
Charging points & capacities- Nighttime/manual plug charging: up to 22 kW
- Manual CCS2 charging stations: up to 425 kW per plug
- Automatic stations (pantograph / telescopic / crane solutions): up to 4 MW
- System bandwidth / terminal power: up to 5.6 MW
- CCS2 sockets: up to ~500 A per plug (future extension to up to 3,000 A per plug with MCS)
Customer benefits- Complete product range from converters to EMS/BMS and drive components
- Integrated engineering for charging + drive technology and project execution
- Scalable solutions adapted to vessel class and port constraints
- Worldwide service and fast decision paths via a globally active family business
Application examples / ReferencesExample: Electrification of passenger ship MS Ceresio — 840 kWh battery, full charge in ~20 minutes using a manual fast-charging station with a 2 MW transformer at berth. References include shipyards, system integrators and shipowners for shore power and fast-charging projects.
Onshore power supplyShore-power installations provide emission-free onboard services during berthing and are a cost-effective alternative to diesel generators. Equipment is installed at berths or boarding bridges and can be integrated with local energy management and storage.
Standard alternatives for charging interfaces- Autonomous telescopic charging via loader crane
- Pantograph (tappet) charging systems
- Manual charging stations (plug & CCS2)
