Description

Overview
The E-MOC is an enhanced open/close mechanism developed from extensive experience in glass plants. It simplifies the forming process and integrates a process-oriented cooling system customizable to customer requirements. This description presents E-MOC's main features and production benefits.

Cooling system
E-MOC is an advanced heat-exchange device. Airflow cooling can be managed in distinct zones to serve both blow and blank moulds.
  • Blow mold
  • Blank mold

Cooling technology
Conjugate heat transfer analysis (including cooling specifications, mould temperature and thermal transfer with glass behaviour) is applied in simulations to define cooling rules and optimize mould temperature profiles.

Mechanism — Levers and parallel motion
  • Mold life time increase
  • Easier swabbing
  • More efficient draft angle

Designed with structural simulations
  • Higher clamping force
  • Smooth o/c movement
  • More efficient clamping

Job change with E-MOC
  • Faster
  • Easier

Top mounted E-MOC
  • More efficient
  • More flexible

Design & Maintenance
With top-mounted mechanisms the section box remains clear, allowing installation of longer-stroke plungers. Routine maintenance can be performed in the workshop while the machine is running.

Cooling advantages
Blank cooling (E-MOC axial cooling)
  • Efficient cooling from mold center
  • Better horizontal temperature homogeneity
  • Easy vertical temperature profile adjustment with plugs
  • FULL 360° cooling coverage
  • LOW fan pressure and mass flow requirement
  • Independent blank and neck ring cooling

CFD & Adjustment
CFD-controlled airflow velocity allows precise control of mould temperature profile. Cooling can be adjusted by:
  • Top & Bottom number of holes
  • Diameter of holes
  • Circumferential distribution

Mold cooling
E-MOC axial cooling ensures efficient center-out cooling, horizontal temperature uniformity, easy vertical profile tuning with plugs, full 360° coverage, low fan pressure and mass flow demands, independent blank and neck ring circuits and no air leakage into the mold cavity.

Neck ring cooling
  • Adjustable for all invert positions
  • Efficient for all cavities
