Description

Overview
The MicroMedia Invicta is a bead mill for wet grinding that pairs a redesigned processing unit with a new bead separation system. It improves energy efficiency, increases throughput and raises flow rates while fitting the same compact factory footprint.

Key benefits
  • Up to +50% productivity — redesigned processing unit combined with improved bead separation increases throughput per pass or unit time.
  • Approximately −25% energy consumption — optimised processing geometry reduces energy demand for equivalent particle-size results.
  • ~+100% flow rate capability — the remodelled bead separation and screen design reduce blockages and pressure build-up, enabling faster recirculation and higher average flow.

Product features
  • New processing unit design — optimised internal geometry delivers target particle sizes with lower energy input while keeping the same footprint.
  • New bead separation system — redesigned separation path and screen reduce blockages, speed recirculation and improve process reliability and safety.
  • Digital control & IoT capability — integrated digital control supports manual to fully automated plant integration; compatible with Bühler Insights for process digitalization.
  • Retrofit option — designed within the MicroMedia/MicroMedia+ framework to enable upgrades without full system replacement.
  • Application-proven design — validated across inks, coatings, electronic materials and battery slurries.

Applications
  • Printing inks and liquid packaging inks
  • Inkjet and digital inks
  • Paints, coatings and automotive coatings
  • Electronic materials and conductive pastes
  • Battery electrode slurry production
  • General wet grinding and dispersing

Additional product notes
MicroMedia Invicta 4 is offered with an active grinding chamber volume of 40 L (20 L more than Invicta 3), suited to efficient processing of larger batches. Coupling Invicta with a MacroMedia pre-grinding unit can further increase energy and CO2 savings in selected processes (example: up to ~270 kWh or ~200 kg CO2e saved per tonne of ink in reference cases).

Technical specifications
  • Expected productivity increase: up to +50% (processing unit + bead separation)
  • Expected energy efficiency improvement: approx. −25% vs best available alternatives
  • Flow rate capability: up to +100% average flow through reduced blockages
  • Invicta 4 active grinding chamber volume: 40 L (Invicta 3 = 20 L less)
  • Bead separation: remodeled separation system and new screen design
  • Control & connectivity: integrated digital control, IoT-ready, compatible with Bühler Insights
  • Upgrade path: retrofit-friendly within MicroMedia product family
