Clamping reliability: the reliability of the connection (cable lug or bar) is ensured by a screw and locking nut, with a flat washer and a spring washer in between—particularly effective in counteracting the effects of dynamic stress.
In versions designed for clamping conductors without preparation, connection reliability is ensured by the action and the distinctive wrap-around shape of the wire clamp. Its elastic reaction to the pressure exerted on the conductor acts as a locking mechanism under the head of the tightening screw, preventing loosening even in the presence of vibrations.
The conducting bar is also designed with a suitably concave seat to increase conductor retention. In addition, both the contact surface of the wire clamp and the concave part of the bar feature transverse grooves along their entire length. These grooves improve connection performance in terms of both mechanical retention and electrical contact, ensuring low contact resistance.
Protection for “bar” versions: Under normal installation conditions, this protection is positioned longitudinally with respect to the terminal axis. It can be easily rotated using a simple screwdriver (as required by safety standards). This allows access to the connection unit to work on cable lugs or bars.
Protection for “cable” versions: In this case, the protection is fixed and snap-fitted. It is oriented orthogonally to the terminal axis and protects the collar, clamp, and tightening screw. Notably, it features a “sliding shutter” device aligned with the terminal and in line with the conductor entry hole. This allows manual operation, under maximum safety conditions, to partially or fully close the entry hole and thus protect live parts—particularly when using conductors with a much smaller cross-section than the nominal size or when wiring the terminal from only one side.
Mounting:
Due to their large dimensions and the high stresses generated by conductors, a new mounting system has been developed for these power terminals. This system allows installation on various standard rail profiles (in accordance with IEC 60715).
The terminal can be released simply by inserting a screwdriver into the designated slot in the mounting system (the yellow-colored part).
If the rail itself is installed on a flat wall, the dimensions of the GPM terminals make it necessary to use flat brackets to properly space the terminal block from the mounting surface.
A version for direct panel mounting (/FIX) is also available for each terminal in the series.
Marking: GPM terminals allow identification on both sides. This can be achieved using either CNU/8 name marker strips (2 elements) or CSC marker strips (up to 5 elements). The two options are not alternatives; they can be used together.
Cross-connection: This series of terminals also allows transverse parallel connection between 2 or 3 adjacent terminals using appropriate parallel jumpers. To insert this accessory, it is necessary to remove the pre-scored insulating partition on the side wall of the insulating body.
