gravity thickener / for sludge treatment
for sludge treatment
The thickener is usually installed in circular basins to thicken and process sludge coming from decanters for subsequent treatment (pressing, centrifuging, etc.).
All this is achieved by some special pickets which turn very slowly to eject air still present in the sludge.
Sludge is then conveyed by some bottom scrapers to the central exit well, while excess water overflows into the duct along the top edge of basin and flow out.
The slow circular motion of the thickener is transmitted by an epicycloidal gear motor coupled to the central shaft which is placed on a bearing located on the bottom of the basin .
