OverviewDiefenbach overhead beam filter presses (OH Series) are industrial machines for liquid‑solid separation and dewatering. A pair of overhead beams supports a sliding pack of recessed or membrane plates suspended from the beams. Slurry is fed into filtration chambers; filtrate passes through filter cloths and solids accumulate on the cloths as filter cakes. Membrane plates and optional additional drying stages increase cake dryness.
How they workThe OH Series uses two overhead beams and a sliding suspension system for plates. Plates form recessed chambers or accept fixed/removable membranes. Plates are compressed by a hydraulic or mechanical main drive (single‑cylinder option available) to form sealed filtration chambers. Slurry is fed from both sides (bidirectional/dual feed); filtrate flows through cloths to collection, solids form cakes. Membrane plates allow additional squeezing by injecting water between plate and membrane. After filtration, core blowing clears residue from the central feed channel and optional compressed‑air drying further reduces moisture. Plate transport and opening systems (standard, fast opening, instantaneous pack opening) release cakes for discharge.
Features & Benefits- Overhead beam layout with suspended plates providing wide access between plates (approx. 800 mm) for inspection and maintenance.
- Single main cylinder drive option for synchronized plate movement and reduced mechanical complexity.
- Bidirectional (dual‑feed) filling halves filling time and improves cake homogeneity.
- Choice of recessed chamber plates or membrane plates (fixed or removable) to tailor cake thickness and dewatering performance.
- Filter cloths can be changed without plate removal to minimize downtime.
- Configurable for ATEX and materials resistant to acidic/corrosive environments (e.g., battery recycling).
Additional features- Advanced automation and remote monitoring packages for process control and data logging.
- Robotic high‑pressure automatic washing for filter cloths, up to 100 bar (≈1450 psi).
- FEA‑based structural design with three‑axis stiffness to minimize frame torsion.
- Multiple plate transport options (standard, fast opening, instantaneous pack opening) selectable by sludge type and process needs.
- Core blowing of the central feed channel to clear residues and improve cake dryness.
- No side beams obstructing cake discharge, reducing residue buildup and sealing issues.
