The rail mountable CAN repeater CRep S4I/FD transmits and amplifies signals transparent to the Classic CAN and CAN FD protocol. Each of the four CAN connections has the physical behavior of a single bus node. All CAN channels are galvanic separated to each other and to the power supply.
The maximum data rate respectively the maximum node count in CAN networks, dependingon signal propagation delays, can be increased, if CRep S4I/FD is used to improve the network structure. CRep S4I/FD offers the possibility to realize star network structures. This allows to choose a network topology, that can lead to a reduction of installation costs.
The ability to isolate permanent dominant segments from the rest of the CAN system after an error time reduces the impact of the most frequently occurring errors on intact bus segments. CRep S4I/FD is delivered with 120 Ohm termination. In case that termination is not needed we offer the device with high impedance resistors to ensure that a channel without connected and terminated cable does not disturb the rest of the connected network.
The presence of power is indicated by a LED. Each CAN channel is provided with a LED indicating that this channel has originated a CAN message.
