Technical description
The MULTI GRIT TESTER 508 SAE is a stone‑chip testing device designed for reproducible and comparable test results. Test specimens are impacted with defined grit (according to ASTM D 3170) accelerated by compressed air. The unit is equipped with an adjustable vibration feeder for automatic delivery of the blasting media and a pressure reservoir to compensate fluctuations in the external compressed air network. A multifunction display shows working pressure, test time, vibration feeder setting and total/temporary test counters.

Purpose and application
The MULTI GRIT TESTER 508 SAE is intended for laboratory and production control to evaluate coating and substrate resistance to gravel/stone impact; it features an adjustable impact angle compared with the VDA version.

Test principle
A defined number of shot particles with specified properties strike the specimen within a selectable time interval with defined energy under an adjustable impact angle.
