The Fumex CFE and CFE W3 are cartridge dust filters designed for large airflows in industrial extraction systems. They are suitable for the filtration of dry particles such as dust and welding fumes in the mechanical industry, with airflow capacities from 1,000 to 12,000 m³/h. For larger airflow requirements, multiple modules can be installed in parallel.

Two filter versions are available. The standard version is designed for welding fumes from steel with a chrome/nickel content below 30%, while the certified CFE W3 version is intended for filtration of welding fumes from stainless steel. The filters are delivered fully assembled from the factory and are equipped with on-demand cleaning. Filter replacement can be carried out without contact with the dirty filter.

The contaminated air enters from above, and the horizontal filter cartridges provide high separation efficiency while also simplifying access during service. A pressure-controlled diaphragm valve delivers compressed-air pulses to clean the cartridges, and the dislodged dust falls into the dust collector. Control and compressed-air components are positioned externally for easy access and protection against mechanical impact.

The CFE system uses automatic on-demand cleaning controlled by the pressure drop across the filter cartridges. Online cleaning takes place during operation to maintain stable airflow, while offline cleaning is performed when the fan stops so that lightweight particles can fall into the dust collector. The unit can also be equipped with a monitoring system for smartphone or PC, and W3-certified filters must always be monitored with a highly visible indoor warning light.

CFE is available in modular versions with 2, 4, 6 or 8 filter cartridges, making it easy to adapt the filter area and capacity to the application. Depending on filter type, the system can handle demanding processes such as welding, fine dust handling, and gas, plasma or laser cutting. Pre-coating is recommended to extend cartridge lifetime, and accessories such as warning light, contactless replacement bags, pressure gauge and spark trap are available.
