What is nitriding treatment?
Nitriding treatment is a heat treatment process that forms a high hardness and high wear resistant nitride layer by infiltrating nitrogen atoms into the metal surface. Suitable for materials such as steel, cast iron, titanium alloys, etc., it significantly improves the fatigue strength, corrosion resistance, and bite resistance of components while maintaining the toughness of the substrate.
Advantages of Nitriding Treatment
- Ultra high surface hardness (HV 1000-1200) - more wear-resistant than traditional quenching
- Minimal deformation - the ideal choice for precision parts after machining
- Excellent corrosion resistance - salt spray test can reach over 500 hours
- Improved anti fatigue performance - extending component life by 3-5 times
Our nitriding treatment technology
- Gas Nitriding
- Temperature range: 500-580 ℃
- Depth of infiltration layer: 0.1-0.6mm
- Applicable materials: alloy steel (such as 4140, 4340), mold steel (H13)
- Plasma Nitriding
- Low temperature process (350-450 ℃) to reduce deformation
- Precise control of infiltration layer, suitable for complex geometric parts
- Environmentally friendly and pollution-free, compliant with RoHS standards
- Salt bath nitriding (QPQ)
- Composite treatment (nitriding+oxidation), combining wear resistance and corrosion resistance
- Surface smoothness Ra ≤ 0.8 μm
Typical application areas
- Automotive industry: crankshafts, camshafts, gears
