Description

Product Overview
High-precision diaphragm chuck for universal machining applications. The Master Jaw Diaphragm uses a flexing diaphragm (no sliding parts) to provide repeatable concentricity and reduced wear for internal and external clamping operations.

Included Components
  • Dovetail jaw design with unitized diaphragm assembly
  • Self-contained air cylinder
  • Face plate adapter
  • Rotary slip coupling
  • Installation instructions

Advantages
  • No sliding parts — eliminates friction and wear
  • Flexing action ensures consistently controlled concentricity
  • Spring steel diaphragm provides reliable chucking pressure for internal or external surfaces

Technical Features
Air is introduced through the spindle and adapter plate via a 1/4" pipe. When air pressure is applied the piston advances approximately 0.030"; a push sleeve transmits this movement to the diaphragm. As the diaphragm flexes the jaws open and the workpiece is loaded. To chuck, air is vented and the diaphragm relaxes so the jaws move until they contact the part, centering it. Consistent concentricity is maintained with a maximum runout controlled to one-third of the part tolerance.

Applications
  • Automotive components and production
  • Camshaft manufacturing
  • Grinding and finish grinding
  • Secondary machining: grinding, boring, facing, light turning

Characteristics / Technical Specifications
  • Product name: Master Jaw Diaphragm (High-precision universal diaphragm chuck)
  • Operating principle: diaphragm flexing action, no sliding parts
  • Air inlet: 1/4" pipe (through spindle and adapter plate)
  • Piston stroke under pressure: approx. 0.030"
  • Jaw actuation: push sleeve transmits piston movement to diaphragm; jaws open on air, close when air is off
  • Concentricity control: consistent, maximum runout ≤ 1/3 of part tolerance
  • Chucking pressure: achieved via spring steel diaphragm for internal and external surfaces
  • Included hardware: unitized diaphragm assembly, self-contained air cylinder, face plate adapter, rotary slip coupling
  • Typical uses: grinding, finishing, camshaft work, automotive parts, secondary machining operations
