These fully ceramic cutting tools based on silicon-nitride were developed for volume chipping plastic materials. The ceramic material is extremely lightweight and the tools achieve highest rotational speeds without load upon the spindle bearings. A newly developed chip geometry allows for highest - to date impossible - feed rates. For instable pretensioned work pieces the maximum rotational speed and respectively high feed rates per tooth result in the best machining results. Ceramics does not heat up even at such extreme cutting processes. The gluing up of the binding substances of the materials is prevented. Heat generated in the cutting process is exclusively dissipated by the chips. The milling process leaves surfaces of highest quality. The blade geometry and optimized sharpening of the tools create perfectly cut edges.
