High volume document shredder

Overview
Shredding installation for paper documents. Within its Combi systems range, ISVE has developed a special version dedicated to shredding paper documentation. The installation easily delivers the five DIN levels of destruction, from the coarsest to the finest, through simple adjustments. From an operator standpoint, the hopper is loaded and the unit started; whole cartons can be emptied into the feed unit.

Paper grinding
The document shredder performs a first reduction of the paper into pieces of about 3–4 cm. These pre-shredded documents are then discharged into a high-speed blade mill for final cutting. A magnetic plate can be fitted between the shredder and the mill to prevent accidental introduction of ferrous material that could damage the mill. The fragments produced by this cutting process are extracted and bagged by an electro-fan mounted on a trolley.

Filtration and dust control
Airborne dust emission is minimized by polyester filter cartridges positioned above the cyclone (emission below 0.5% for particles sized 0.2–2 µm). Filtration efficiency is maintained by two shakers that act on the filter pleats to clean them and discharge particles directly into the collection bags.

Control and productivity
All functions of the shredding installation are managed via a programmable logic controller (PLC). Indicative productivity for the COMBI 50/66D-GR300 is approximately 150–250 kg/h of paper documentation, including bound and very thick documents.
