OverviewPROMAC-X is a precision instrument for measuring inner bore wear, corrosion, ovality and surface defects in cylindrical process components such as extruder barrels and material cylinders. It quantifies wear levels, locates damaged areas, evaluates remaining service life and supports predictive maintenance for plastics, chemical fiber and rubber processing equipment.
Preventive inspection for extruder barrelsPROMAC-X is designed for preventive barrel wear diagnostics during routine maintenance. Measurements can be taken without full disassembly of the process section: screws are withdrawn and the barrel is clean and cooled. This reduces inspection time and labor compared with traditional dismantling. During scanning, PROMAC-X records inner bore profiles to identify wear depth, corrosion, ovality changes and abnormal surface deposits. Resulting data enables informed decisions on continued operation, maintenance scheduling and service-life extension.
Barrel wear conditionsNormal wear types identified:
Abnormal wear example:
- Adhesion / friction (material build-up causing abnormal surface conditions)
SOLUTIONElectronic sensors4-point measurement with fixed positions to capture the bore profile and local defects.
Measurement rangeInner bore inspection diameter: Ø25 - Ø50 mm
Customizable inspection diameter: Ø50 - Ø450 mm
Measurement outputs and reportingAutomatic inspection report including wear diagrams and color-coded maps for rapid assessment.
Color-coded wear areas- Green = Within wear limits
- Yellow = Warning, approaching tolerance limits
- Red = Worn area, replace barrel / liner
Additional notesIntended for twin‑screw and single‑screw extruder barrels and similar cylindrical process equipment. Measurement can be performed without full disassembly when screws are removed and the barrel is clean and cooled.
