Description

Overview

Kendrion emergency solenoid arrestor is a safety locking device designed to stop robot joints and drive wheels immediately in emergency or power-failure situations. The unit pairs a linear solenoid (retractable pin) with a rotating mating profile (tooth or star wheel) so the pin engages the counterpart and arrests motion.

Function and operation

Under normal operation the pin is retracted. On emergency stop or loss of power the pin extends automatically into the rotating mating profile, preventing further rotation. Energy-optimized operation is achieved by a short over-excitation for fast insertion followed by a reduced holding voltage to maintain position.
