Description

Overview
The CMP6 pyranometer measures global solar radiation on a horizontal surface and complies with ISO 9060:2018 as Spectrally Flat Class B. It uses a sixty-four thermocouple junction (series connected) sensing element with a stable carbon-based non-organic coating for consistent spectral absorption and long-term stability.

Applications
Designed for routine meteorological, hydrological and agricultural monitoring where accurate, cost-effective irradiance measurement is required. CMP6 improves on earlier models with increased thermal mass and a double glass dome for enhanced performance in field conditions.

Key technical attributes
The CMP6 provides a low-voltage analogue output compatible with common data acquisition systems. It includes features to simplify installation, calibration and maintenance for networked measurement sites.

  • Model: CMP6
  • Classification: Spectrally Flat Class B (ISO 9060:2018)
  • Detector: Sixty-four thermocouple junctions (series connected)
  • Spectral range / accuracy: 285 to 2800 nm
  • Sensitivity: 5 to 20 µV/W/m² (temperature dependence < 4% between -10 and +40 °C)
  • Analogue output: 0 to 30 mV (approx. 0–1500 W/m²)
  • Response time: < 6 s (63%), 12 s (95%)
  • Non-linearity: < ±1% (100–1000 W/m²)
  • Zero offsets: A: < ±8 W/m², B: < ±2 W/m²
  • Irradiance saturation (max): 2000 W/m²
  • Directional response: < ±20 W/m² (up to 80° with 1000 W/m² beam)
  • Operating temperature range: -40 to +80 °C
  • Operating humidity: 0 to 100%
  • Non-stability: < ±1% change per year
  • Casing / enclosure: Anodized aluminum, IP67
  • Weight: 1.3 lb (600 g)
  • Cable length options: 10, 25, 50, 100 m (33, 82, 164, 330 ft)
  • Drying cartridge & maintenance: External screw-in drying cartridge, replace desiccant approx. every 6 months

Maintenance & installation
Integral raised bubble level and a snap-on sun shield allow leveling and connector access without removing the shield. Connector contacts are gold-plated to facilitate exchange and recalibration. The sensor does not require an external power supply; it generates 0–30 mV. For higher voltage or 4–20 mA outputs use the AMPBOX. The screw-in drying cartridge is user-replaceable with supplied refill packets.
