Restructuring production and increasing efficiency
Product discontinuations at Weinrich resulted in equipment reallocations. The LTM-DUO, with its high speed, packaging quality and reliability, was used to take over production tasks while maintaining a small footprint. The project—from investment decision to the successful installation of two packaging machines—took 18 months and included integrating new fold wrapping machines into an existing system while converting older machines during ongoing production.

Efficient packaging with outstanding ease of use
The LTM-DUO is available in right-hand or left-hand design for optimum ease of operation. As a twin-station packaging machine it processes chocolate bars flexibly and economically after feeding, performing two wraps: an inner wrap (with a wide variety of wrapping materials, types of folding and closing, and optionally tight sealing) and an outer wrap with cardboard or paper label. Damaged bars are automatically rejected. Format changes require only minor adjustments and reel changes are fast thanks to an integrated autosplice device enabling reel changes during ongoing operation.

Quick format changeover
Changing packaging materials and labels several times a day is normal for chocolate manufacturers. The LTM-DUO enables fast, reproducible format changeovers; even major changeovers can be completed in at most an hour and a half, supporting production flexibility and providing a competitive advantage.

Packaging in biodegradable packaging films
The LTM-DUO supports high-quality packaging of chocolate bars in biopolymer packaging films. It is designed for efficient processing of bio-films, folding and sealing precisely and guiding the film within the machine to prevent shaft run-out and phenomena such as electrostatic build-up. The machine achieves a notable speed of three wrapped bars per second when processing bio-film.

Strong service
Support includes teleservice, IP network connectivity and a remote maintenance server. Machines can be accessed via software for updates and monitoring by agreement with the customer. Service and remote monitoring enable status and performance monitoring, evaluations and fault analyses in real time to support the customer’s engineers.
