BOREHOLE SEISMIC SOURCE
Description
Borehole seismic energizer ESP3 is a system designed to offer detailed illustration of S waves, phase inversion of S waves, modest inhibition of P wave energy, lower weight, signal repetition, high-frequency (fast rise time), maximum reliability and a lower cost. A 3-in-1 single-cable of 1.27 cm diameter, 60 mt length, is used to manage activation of reversible spring hammer, trigger geophone and air for fixing mechanism. System is entirely housed on cable reel for an overall extremely massiveness, easier transport and handling. High efficiency of ESP3 is further increased by lack of batteries, which makes system more light and free from the need of electrical power for its functioning. Once properly anchored hammer to hole wall, it is possible to generate wave by pulling cable upwards, and once performed first energization, during release phase it is possible to perform wave reverse phase. Start of recording is done automatically at the time of impact due to trigger system integrated in the hammer.
Main features:
- Generates P and S waves
- Single cable which includes: trigger + kevlar pulling cable + pressurizing pipe
- Compact and easy to carry, whole system is lodged on reel
- No need of battery, no limit in its autonomy
- Trigger connector, manometer, pressurizing valve and depressurizing sensor placed on cable reel frontal panel
- Usable in holes without presence of water to avoid mechanical attenuation.
DOWN-HOLE SEISMIC EXPLORATION
This type of survey is performed for the mechanical characterisations of grounds crossed during the probing phase.
