AJS Series fine adjustment screws have precision rolled or cut threads and proprietary lubrication for exceptionally smooth adjustment and higher sensitivity than standard micrometers. With sub-micron sensitivity, they are a cost-effective alternative to micrometers where position readout is not required.
•Up to 254 TPI thread pitch
•Patented non-influencing end locks
•Industry-Standard mounting interface
•Knob or Hex-Key driven versions
TPI stands for threads per inch and Newport's AJS screws are available in five different thread pitches to cover the sensitivity requirements of every application. Higher TPI provides for a shorter thread pitch with higher sensitivity to a 1° rotation of the adjustment screw. High-precision 254, 170, 127, 100, or 20 TPI, rolled stainless steel threads are mated with the collet and proprietary lubricant for stictionless movement.
Patented Non-influencing Locks
Our patented thread-pitch lock secures the adjustment screw from turning by simply tightening a setscrew. Engaging or disengaging the thread-pitch lock, now standard, won't influence the screw position. Versions with knobs have the lock screw on the side, while hex versions have the lock screw conveniently located on the end next to the drive screw. A single wrench is used for both adjustment and locking. Non-locking, 12.7 mm travel versions are also available for use in optical mounts.
Faster Alignment Times
High TPI adjusters have a clear sensitivity and alignment time advantage. This graph shows the results of alignment time testing of the Ultima Mirror mount with adjustment screws having 80, 100, 127 and 170 TPI.
