Description

Overview
For inline thickness measurement of strip materials, thicknessGAUGE sensor systems are used. Several models are available with different sensor types, measurement ranges and measurement widths for measuring the thickness of films with various surface properties. The system uses two distance sensors that detect strip thickness with high accuracy. These sensors are precisely aligned and factory-calibrated. Using a linear axis, thicknessGAUGE sensor systems can be moved to measure thickness across the full strip width. The extremely compact design allows integration into confined installation spaces.

Use and variants
thicknessGAUGE can be used for fixed-track measurement, e.g. for center-line (center thickness) or edge thickness measurement. Alternatively, the sensor system can be used for traversing thickness measurement. Due to its versatility, thicknessGAUGE is suitable for both intermittent films and longitudinally coated films.

Software and control
These compact systems are equipped with an integrated linear unit including motor control, a compact bus terminal box, an automatic calibration device and a multi-touch PC with preinstalled software. The software supports different measurement modes such as fixed-track thickness measurement at arbitrary positions, thickness profile measurement, multiple longitudinal profile measurement, an MSP/SPC package and automated monitoring of measurement system capability.
