Overview Gas detectors monitor gas leaks at fuel stations to protect personnel and assets. For safety and compliance, stations should deploy multiple detectors covering tank areas, dispensers and mobile inspection points. Detectors trigger alarms and can command automatic shutdown of the fuel system to limit hazards.
Placement - At least three detectors recommended per station
- One fixed detector (permanent installation)
- One portable/mobile detector for inspections
- Detector in the tank area
- Detector at the dispenser
Functionality Detect combustible or toxic gas leaks, activate audible/visual alarms and initiate controlled shutdown of the fuel distribution system to reduce risk.
Standards Designed to meet the requirements referenced in TSE 11939 for fuel station gas detection systems.
Technical specifications - Recommended quantity per station: minimum 3 detectors
- Typical installation locations: tank area, dispenser, fixed and mobile positions
- Main functions: leak detection, alarm activation, automatic system shutdown
- Applicable standard: TSE 11939
