Product summaryBSTFLEX Aluminized Fiberglass Welding Blanket Roll combines a reflective aluminum foil facing laminated to woven fiberglass fabric to provide flexible radiant heat protection for welding, cutting, fabrication and industrial hot-work environments. Supplied as continuous roll goods for converters, welding blanket manufacturers, distributors and OEM buyers, the material is available in multiple fiberglass constructions, weights and thicknesses, with options for cut-to-length supply and finished welding blanket fabrication.
How it worksThe aluminized facing reflects radiant thermal energy while the fiberglass substrate supplies the flexible textile reinforcement and thermal mass required for cutting, fabrication and handling.
Primary function and typical applications- Primary function: radiant heat reflection and flexible thermal protection
- Typical applications: welding areas near heat-sensitive equipment; fabrication adjacent to hot metal surfaces; furnace and foundry maintenance; hot-work barriers between operators and radiant heat sources; temporary heat shields around machinery; welding curtains requiring a reflective face; equipment covers exposed to radiant heat
Aluminum-facing vs fiberglass substrateThe aluminum-facing layer is intended to face the radiant heat source to reflect incident radiation. The fiberglass substrate provides mechanical support and additional thermal resistance. The laminated composite should be evaluated as a whole for continuous industrial use because the reflective facing, bonding system and fiberglass fabric can have different thermal limits.
LimitationsDo not assume the aluminized facing is suitable as a universal slag or heavy molten-metal surface. Direct hot particles, heavy slag or large molten-metal contact can damage the reflective facing, puncture or degrade the foil, reduce reflectivity, or damage the bonding layer. For heavy slag or spatter conditions consider silica, vermiculite-treated fiberglass or other heavy-duty welding fabrics.
Common supply formats and buyer types- Full rolls: continuous aluminized fiberglass material for converters, distributors and welding blanket manufacturers
- Cut-to-length: continuous fabric supplied to an agreed length for project-based fabricators
- Cut panels: material cut to specified dimensions without full finished fabrication for customers performing their own sewing or installation
- Finished welding blanket: cut, sewn and finished reflective blankets for end users and finished-product distributors
Selection guidanceSelect material thickness and construction based on required flexibility, finished product weight, radiant heat level, physical durability, cutting and sewing method, finished barrier construction and available space. Typical usable width is approximately 100 cm (40 in); roll lengths commonly approximately 50 m, with selected lightweight constructions available in longer rolls.

Filament vs Texturized Fiberglass- Filament fiberglass: thinner, lighter, more flexible, easier cutting and fabrication, suitable for thin reflective barriers and lighter finished blanket weight
- Texturized fiberglass: bulked yarns, heavier and thicker constructions, greater physical thermal mass and durability for heavy welding protection, industrial curtains and substantial fabricated heat shields
Installation & maintenance notesFor radiant heat protection the aluminum-facing side should normally face the radiant heat source. Keep the reflective surface clean and inspect reusable fabricated blankets and curtains for torn aluminum facing, delamination, puncture damage, heavy contamination, burned or darkened areas and damaged seams. Replace when damage prevents intended heat-reflective function.
