Description

Overview
To keep pace with increasing transmission capacity and higher system voltages, the PCS-9250 AC electronic CT/VT implements advanced electronic current and voltage measurement technologies suitable for metering and protection applications. ECTs/EVTs provide no magnetic saturation, no ferromagnetic resonance, wide dynamic range, broad frequency response and a compact footprint. Designed for both GIS and AIS, these units have been laboratory-tested and deployed in substations worldwide.

Electronic CT/VT in GIS Application
The PCS-9250 AC for GIS is applicable to 110 kV (220 kV, 330 kV or 500 kV) gas-insulated switchgear for primary current and voltage measurement. Output signals interface with digitizing measurement devices, bay control units and protection relays. Units can be installed indoors or outdoors.
  • Main Body: Consists of transformer tank, adapter flange, insulation spacer, primary conductor and built-in current and voltage sensors. The space between the primary conductor and transformer tank is filled with SF6 insulating gas.
  • Primary Sensor: Composed of two redundant sensors; each sensor includes one low-power CT (LPCT), one air-core coil and one coaxial capacitor voltage divider.
  • Remote end module: Two redundant remote end modules receive and process outputs from LPCTs, air-core coils and the capacitor divider. Processed signals are transmitted to merging units via optical fiber. Primary sensors and remote modules are installed on the high-voltage side in a duplicated configuration.

Electronic CT/VT in AIS Application
For AIS substations (110 kV, 220 kV, 330 kV or 500 kV), the PCS-9250 AC measures primary current and voltage and delivers outputs to digital measurement devices, bay control units and protection relays. Units support indoor and outdoor installation.
  • Electronic CT in AIS Application: Comprises primary sensor (one LPCT, two air-core coils and one HV current acquisition coil at the HV side), dual remote electronic modules (HV side) that produce digital optical outputs, optical insulator and merging unit.
  • Electronic VT in AIS Application: Includes capacitor voltage divider (steps HV to LV and can act as a communication carrier), dual remote electronic modules (LV side) producing serial digital optical outputs, and a merging unit located in control rooms to present three-phase voltage signals to protection and control devices using IEC60044-8 or IEC61850-9-1/2.
  • Electronic CT/VT Groups in AIS Application: Integrated solutions combining ECTs and EVTs: primary current sensors (one LPCT, two air-core coils and one HV draw-out coil), dual remote modules, capacitor voltage divider and merging unit.

Medium and Low Voltage Electronic CT/VT
Medium/low voltage variants are intended for 10 kV–35 kV switchgear or outdoor installation to measure primary current and voltage. Outputs are provided to digital measurement devices, bay control units and protection relays. Typical components include LPCTs, transport modules and remote onsite acquisition units.
