OverviewMeldin® Thermoplastics is a family of engineered thermoplastic compounds formulated for applications requiring thermal resistance, dimensional stability and mechanical integrity where standard engineering plastics are insufficient. The Meldin® series supports demands across aerospace, space systems, life science equipment, semiconductors and other industrial applications operating at elevated temperatures.
Material Families & Typical Formulations- PPS-based compounds (Meldin® 1000 series) — proprietary polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) compounds offering chemical and thermal resistance, dimensional control and structural integrity for versatile designs.
- PAI-based compounds (Meldin® 4000 series) — polyamide-imide (PAI) formulations delivering high mechanical strength at temperature, metal-replacement characteristics (stiffness, wear resistance) and compatibility with common automotive and industrial fluids.
- PEEK / PAEK-based compounds (Meldin® 5000 series) — PEEK/PAEK formulations providing high tensile, compressive and flexural strength, corrosion resistance and metal-like finishes at reduced weight.
Applications & Typical Uses- Aerospace: thrust washers, structural components and high-temperature tight-clearance parts.
- Space: components requiring cryogenic stability, thermal resistance and long service life under extreme environments.
- Life science: electrical insulators, wear parts and precision components for medical and laboratory equipment.
- Industrial & Semiconductor: bearings, piston rings, vanes and other parts requiring wear resistance, chemical compatibility and dimensional control.
