Description

USE THE POWER OF THE RASPBERRY PI® COMPUTE MODULE 4 IN YOUR SOLUTIONS

RESI has used Raspberry Pi® boards since the Compute Module 3 and has installed thousands of controllers in its projects. The result is an industrial-grade IoT controller based on the original Raspberry Pi® Compute Module 4 board.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT?

The Raspberry Pi® Compute Module 4 board is integrated into an industrial enclosure for DIN-rail and wall mounting. Available enclosure sizes: 4MU, 8MU and 12MU. C4 controllers fit standard control panels with a 45 mm front cutout. Built-in wide-range power supply: 12–48 VDC. An ARM® coprocessor is integrated to manage the RS485 serial interface and time-critical tasks. Coprocessor features: unique 96-bit serial number, integrated 2 kB ferromagnetic RAM for persistent values, real-time clock with backup capacitor, status LEDs and DIP switches for software use. Standard Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 features: 1x Micro HDMI, 1x Ethernet, 2x USB 2.0, RAM options 2/4/8 GB, 32 GB SD card with LINUX OS.

BUILT-IN I/O!

There are several versions with integrated I/Os. The ARM® coprocessor handles these I/Os internally so that software only needs a single serial interface to control all I/O functions. Communication interfaces: /dev/ttyACM0 for a simple ASCII text protocol and /dev/ttyACM1 for communication using the MODBUS/RTU-Master protocol. Versions with relay outputs are available. Special I/O options in the portfolio include LED-strip outputs, temperature sensor inputs and blind/shutter control.

UNIVERSAL ANALOG I/Os (AIOX)

Available channel counts: 4, 8 or 16. Each channel is individually configurable, for example:
  • Analog input: 0/2–10 V or 0/4–20 mA
  • Analog output: 0/2–10 V or 0/4–20 mA
  • Resistance measurement input: 0 to 1 MΩ
  • PT100, PT1000, NI1000-DIN43760 sensor input
  • Digital input: 24 V DC or dry contact

HOW TO USE THE SERIAL INTERFACE?

The ARM® coprocessor maps the RS485 interface over USB to a serial device: /dev/ttyACM2. This provides a native serial interface for LINUX software. The time-critical direction switching for RS485 is handled by the coprocessor, not by the operating system.

WHAT SOFTWARE?

The IoT controllers are supplied with the standard Raspberry Pi LINUX distribution. Controllers can run many open-source LINUX software solutions such as Node-RED, NodeJs, Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, C#, C++, Scratch. Supported databases: MariaDB, MongoDB, InfluxDB, PostgreSQL. Visualization/Frontend tools: Grafana, Apache. Home automation: OpenHAB, FHEM, Home Assistant, IObroker. Connectivity/Cloud: MQTT, HTTPS, Azure IoT, AWS web services. Network/VPN: OpenWrt, OpenRouter, OpenVPN, WireGuard. Multimedia: KODI. PLC solutions: CODESYS. Alternatively, develop and run your own software on this professional hardware platform.
