Description

Overview
TORB toroidal roller bearings from FAG combine the properties of spherical and cylindrical roller bearings in a single component, designed for demanding paper industry applications such as drying and yankee cylinders, press rolls and thermo rolls. Used as a non-locating bearing together with a spherical roller bearing as locating bearing, TORB improves system life, reduces total cost of ownership and ensures accurate bearing guidance at high production speeds.

Benefits
  • Extended service life: up to twice the rating life in locating/non-locating arrangements.
  • High reliability and cost-efficiency: X-life quality lowers maintenance and downtime.
  • High radial load capacity thanks to a special internal geometry.
  • Interchangeability: produced in standard ISO dimension series and sizes for compatibility with market products.
  • Compact non-locating design for efficient use of installation space and high power density.

Product portfolio
  • Range: eight series covering shaft diameters from 25 to 1200 mm; matching sizes available with spherical roller bearings.
  • Versions: tapered or cylindrical bore; case-hardened inner ring option.
  • Internal clearance classes: CN, C3 and C4.
  • Temperature resistance: suitable for operating temperatures up to +200 °C.

Bearing concept & key features
  • Combines angular adjustability and axial displacement capability in one bearing.
  • Special TORB raceway profile for optimal stress distribution and low friction.
  • Roller positioning distributes load evenly along the roller length for reliable performance.
  • Compensates axial length displacement up to ±10% of bearing width.
  • Tilting compensation up to 0.5° without reducing basic load rating or rating life.
  • Effective damping of axial vibrations, reducing system vibration and noise.
  • Main dimensions correspond to DIN 616:2000 and ISO 15:2017.

Schaeffler X-life Premium Quality
  • X-life designs provide higher basic dynamic load ratings than standard bearings, extending rating and operating life.
  • Benefits include increased wear resistance, reduced friction and lower operating temperatures, higher running accuracy and greater basic load ratings versus standard market products.

Applications
  • Primarily designed for the paper industry: drying cylinders, yankee cylinders, press rolls and thermo rolls.
  • Optimized as a non-locating bearing for locating/non-locating arrangements (typically combined with spherical roller bearings as locating bearings) to manage thermal expansion and misalignment.

Technical specifications
  • Series: TORB.
  • Shaft diameters: 25 to 1200 mm (eight series).
  • Bore types: tapered or cylindrical; case-hardened inner ring optional.
  • Internal clearance classes: CN, C3, C4.
  • Maximum operating temperature: up to +200 °C.
  • Axial length displacement compensation: up to ±10% of bearing width.
  • Tilting compensation: up to 0.5°.
  • Standards: main dimensions per DIN 616:2000 and ISO 15:2017.
  • Typical role: non-locating bearing paired with spherical roller bearing as locating bearing.
