Description

Overview
At STEP Lab the HUD series is an electrodynamic test bench designed for damper and suspension testing. It is built for high-dynamic and endurance tests and can handle high continuous and peak forces across a wide range of dampers and shock absorbers.

Key numerical features
  • Max. Peak force: up to 66 kN (model-dependent)
  • Max. Dynamic force: up to 24 kN (model-dependent)
  • Max. Test speed: up to 8.0 m/s

Type of test
  • Performance testing
  • Endurance / durability testing

Applications
  • Shock absorbers
  • Dampers
  • Vehicle suspensions — characterization and durability tests

Features
  • Closed-loop control of force and displacement via Test Center controller
  • Reproduction of sinusoidal, triangular and custom profiles
  • High-resolution data acquisition (24 bit)
  • Variable installation positions and separate, free-position controller
  • Flexible programming of test sequences through Test Center graphical interface
  • Wide variety of grips, testing tools and load cells
  • Integration with extensometers and climatic chambers
  • Capability to synchronize up to 10 actuators for multi-actuator systems

Advantages
  • High dynamic performance thanks to electrodynamic linear motor actuation
  • Minimal maintenance due to absence of mechanical transmission
  • Low power consumption and high efficiency (electric motor)
  • Configurable as single linear actuator or multi-column machine
  • Programmable speed range from 0.01 mm/s up to 8,000 mm/s and strokes >200 mm
  • Easy installation: single electrical socket and compressed air required
