Description

Product overview
RENATURE® Honeycomb is a tailored protective packaging solution combining starch‑based foam liners and a recycled paper honeycomb network. The combined pads are assembled into 3D shapes that cradle and protect shipped goods. Bonding uses water only (no hot melt or plastic adhesive tape). The solution is recyclable with paper and serves as an alternative to EPS molded parts or cardboard‑only protection.

How it works
RENATURE® Honeycomb pads consist of a honeycomb paper network sandwiched between two starch‑based foam liners. Individual pads are joined to form 3D protective inserts that position shock‑absorbing material exactly where needed to support and protect the product during transit.

Benefits at a glance
  • Fully recyclable with paper
  • Certified using the CEPI method
  • Reduced process costs on the packaging line
  • 3D shape tailor‑made to the product
  • Suitable for mass production and small lots
  • Packaged products are stackable

Compliant
  • Designed with upcoming packaging regulations in mind
  • Aligned with the EU Circular Economy Strategy and PPWR
  • Helps reduce single‑use plastics
  • Uses recycled materials and is recyclable

Circular
  • Foam liners produced almost exclusively from yellow pea starch residues
  • Honeycomb network made from recycled paper
  • ~43% less water use (referenced study)
  • ~38% lower overall resource use (referenced study)
  • ~32% fewer CO2 emissions (referenced study)

Customer-driven
  • Addresses end‑consumer demands for recyclable packaging
  • Provides customized protection adapted to product geometry
  • Easy to dispose of and recycle in the paper stream

RENATURE® Honeycomb vs. Conventional honeycomb cardboard pads
  • RENATURE® Honeycomb — Better shock absorption due to starch‑based foam liners; Conventional — stiff paper liner must be pre‑deformed for similar performance
  • RENATURE® Honeycomb — High shear resistance and reduced abrasion risk protecting product surfaces; Conventional — paper liner increases abrasion risk from fiber scratching
  • RENATURE® Honeycomb — Lighter because material is used only where needed; Conventional — heavier overall
  • RENATURE® Honeycomb — Single component reduces design complexity and process costs on the packaging line; Conventional — more complex design and higher process costs
  • RENATURE® Honeycomb — Bonding without adhesives (water); Conventional — hot‑melt adhesive
  • RENATURE® Honeycomb — Disposable in the cardboard/paper bin and recyclable; Conventional — disposable in the cardboard/paper bin and recyclable
