Overview
POWERFLEX® BESS Ultra is designed and manufactured for demanding battery energy storage systems (BESS) and grid installations. Extra-flexible power cable optimized for constrained layouts; improves ease of installation and reduces installation time. Suitable for burial, installation in conduit and outdoor use without additional protection. Water resistance: AD8 (total submersion). Complies with IEC 60502-1 and UNE 21123-2.

Typical applications

• Power distribution: DC main power distribution cables consolidating power from multiple battery racks to the central DC bus; requiring robust design, superior insulation and flame-retardant properties.
• Module connections: Inter-cell and module connections within battery cabinets to ensure efficient and safe power transfer.
• AC integration and grid connection: Cables connecting the battery inverter to facility or utility grid for stable energy export and synchronization.

Construction

• Conductor: Copper, class 5 (flexible) up to 150 mm²; Copper, class 6 (flexible) from 185 mm².
• Insulation: XLPE, natural colour.
• Outer sheath: PVC (flexible), black.

• According to: IEC 60502-1; UNE 21123-2.
• Approvals: CE; KEMA-KEUR; BUREAU VERITAS; AENOR; RoHS; RETIE.
• Construction Products Regulation: Eca (EN 50575).

• Electrical performance: 0,6/1 (1,2) kV AC; 1,5 (1,8) kV DC.
• Thermal performance: Maximum conductor temperature 90ºC; maximum short-circuit temperature 250ºC (max. 5 s); minimum service temperature -40ºC (fixed and protected installations); minimum installation and handling temperature 0ºC (on cable surface).
• Fire performance: Flame non-propagation according to EN 60332-1 and IEC 60332-1; Reaction to fire CPR: Eca according to EN 50575; Reduced halogen emissions (chlorine <15%).
• Mechanical performance: Minimum bending radius during installation: 5× cable diameter (for cable diameter ≤ 50 mm); 6× cable diameter (for cable diameter > 50 mm). Impact resistance: AG2 (Medium severity).
• Environmental performance: Chemical & oil resistance: Good; UV resistant (UNE 211605); Water resistance: AD8 (submersion).
• Installation conditions: Open air, buried, in conduit, in tray.
