Overview
The RedUnit is Vogelsang's modular industrial grinder that combines shredding and pumping in a single compact unit. Designed for heavy-duty processing of high-volume dry solids, it performs coarse or fine reduction to improve pumpability and downstream processing while minimizing intermediate conveyors or separate pumps.

Product concept and operation
The RedUnit combines twin-shaft ripper grinding technology with selectable grinding stages and optional pump modules to deliver a single-step solution for making solids pumpable. Intelligent control (optional) provides system monitoring and parameter adjustment. Monolithic ripper rotors and service-friendly layouts enable fast maintenance and reduced downtime.

Models

• RedUnit XRL136 — Twin-shaft grinder for soft and fragile solids (fruits, vegetables, animal by-products). Lower torque design; max inlet 280 mm × 320 mm; processes solids up to ~150 mm diameter; different ripper rotor widths available to adjust particle size.
• RedUnit XRL186 — Universal grinder for medium to high throughput (up to ~60 m3/h depending on material). Handles organic materials (bones, intestines) and tougher inorganic items (plastics, metal cans, drywall). QuickService design for minimal downtime.
• RedUnit XRL260 — High-capacity grinder for large, tough materials (examples up to ~100 t/h). Suitable for whole carcasses, organic waste and recycling applications. Driven by two geared motors (e.g. 2 × 37 kW); rotor shafts removable from the side to simplify cleaning and service.
