With an aluminum cylinder block and head, low-friction, lightweight pistons, and a cast-aluminum oil pan, the engine provides an improved power-to-weight ratio. The direct injection fuel System enables a high compression ratio, extracting more energy from each drop of fuel. This contributes to reduced fuel consumption and émission levels. With variable valve timing, the movement of each intake and exhaust valve is adjusted for speed and load.
