Description
Application FK6 ASD: outside-clamping double rings (2 rings = 1 set). Unlike single-wound laminar sealing rings FK3, the FK6 double-turn rings are double-wound. They are used as grease seals for roller and plain bearings and as protection seals in front of hermetic seal arrangements.

Performance and design
FK6 rings meet sealing requirements against grease leakage and against ingress of dust, dirt and splash water. They provide uniform radial tension and, unlike FK3, have no axial joint gap. Combined ring sets (FK6 ASKD) add sealing at the groove-base diameter to increase the labyrinth effect and optimize sealing performance.

Installation and ring carriers
Assemblies FK6 ASD or FK6 ASKD are generally preferred over FK6 ISD/FK6 ISKD because rings are easier to install into the carriers' grooves. Ring carriers can be manufactured from steel, cast iron, light alloy or plastics depending on application and technical requirements.
