There is an increasing tendency to investigate the behaviour of large constructions under varying load conditions. Examples are: bridges, wind turbines, tower cranes, etc. Usually it is quite inconvenient to apply half- or full straingauge bridges onto such constructions, for which reason mostly single (1/4 bridge) gauges are utilized. This, however, usually implies cumbersome wiring to the inputs of the (remote) measuring amplifiers.
StrainBUSter has been developed to solve these problems by placing the measuring circuit in the direct vicinity of each point of measurement. Here all signal conditioning is done, after which all measured values are being transmitted via a CAN bus to one convenient central place, thus building one decentralized system. In this way, up to 120 measured values can be transmitted very reliably over longer distances.
Each StrainBUSter module has 2 separate input channels. The single straingauge, or the Pt100 sensor, is connected through a 3-wire connection, eliminating cable losses at the input side.

Our customer, an aerospace composite parts manufacturer, wanted to replace their heater power feedthrough in an aerospace parts autoclave.
While it was intended to be an exact physical replacement of an existing product, Conax developed a "plug and play" solution offering several key advantages. The most important feature was its ability to be rebuilt in the field.
This product is a custom-designed hybrid of our Electrode Gland (EG) series and out Electrode Gland Teflon (EGT) series designs. We incorporated and combined positive features of each gland to benefit the customer in this application.
The EG offers high temperature resistance required closer to the heaters. The EGT offers more robust, less costly components for the balance of the assembly located where lower temperatures prevail.
The special solid nickel conductors are designed with staggered lenghts to ease power cable attachment.
Performance and longevity were inproved with this design because the heating elements can function at peak performance at all times, reducing cycle times. The few replacement parts required can be replaced on-site in the time it takes for the unit to cool down and be reloaded with new production material. The old design required a complete offsite rebuild over several months with a significant loss of productivity.

Conventional methods of chamber entry for validation thermocouples allow only limited numbers of thermocouples to be used. They are relatively time consuming in their application and frequently prone to unacceptable leakage.
The TCEG/1 addresses both these problem areas by providing individual slots for 18 separate thermocouples and a rapid action, locking and securing mechanism.
By utilising a three part sealant arrangement the gland becomes a TCEG/2 with the opportunity of increasing the capacity to 36 individual thermocouples. Should even more thermocouples need to be accommodated, then a Y adapter connected to the chamber entry port can double both these quantities.
For mounting onto the autoclave chamber the TCEG is supplied with a Tri-clamp flange with the option of having a 1 or up to 2 flange.
The gland body is machined from 316L stainless steel with the cap in CZ121 brass. Sealants are in medical grade silicone to Shore 40 hardness and in accordance with FDA USP Class VI.

Omegas new Wireless Thermocouple Connector Series features stand-alone, compact, battery powered thermocouple connectors that transmit their readings back to a host receiver up to 120 m away.
Each unit can be programmed in the field to work as a type J, K, T, E, R, S, B, N or C calibration connector. When activated the connector will transmit readings continuously at a pre set time interval that was programmed by the user during the initial setup. Each unit measures and transmits: Thermocouple Input Reading, Connector Ambient Temperature, RF Signal Strength and Battery Condition to the host and is displayed on the PC screen in real time using the provided software.
When used with host receiver models UWTC-REC1 or UWTC-REC2 data from up to 48 wireless thermocouple connectors can be received and displayed. Each USB powered unit includes free software that converts your PC into a strip chart recorder or data logger so readings can be saved and later printed or exported to a spread sheet file.
The UWTC-REC2 also allows wireless data from one transmitter to be re-transmitted out of the receiver by a wired connection as an analogue voltage or current to interface with a controller, PLC or data acquisition board.

Threaded wells are available in materials that can be readily welded. Flanged wells are manufactured by welding a bar stock well to the specified flange style. Doubled-welded construction reduces crevice corrosion and stress problems by ensuring that no open joints are exposed inside or outside the installation
Thermowells are pressure-tight receptacles that extend the life of a temperature in environments where the sensor is not chemically compatible with the process media or the sensor does not have the mechanical strength to withstand the process flow or pressure. Thermowells also facilitate removing, changing, checking or replacing sensors without draining the process system. The use of standardized thermowells throughout a plant permits easy relocation of sensors.

Included in our thermowell series are standardized wells of threaded, ANSI flanged, Van Stone and Weld-in types.
Threaded wells are made in readily welded or brazed materials for installations requiring seal welding or brazing. The pipe thread provides the mechanical strength, the weld merely seals.
ANSI flanged wells consist of a bar-stock well which is permanently welded to a top quality flange. Standard construction uses primary "J" groove weld and a bevel groove secondary weld. Both welds are machined to produce a clean fillet. This double welded construction eliminates possibility of crevice corrosion since no open joints are exposed from either inside or outside the installation.

Thermocouple validation wire
Type 'T' thermocouple wire in Class 1 material and to BS EN 60584-1:1996 is supplied with a flat pair of PTFE insulated conductors and a PFA jacket. Conductor sizes are available in a solid 1/0.3mm and 1/0.5mm, or stranded 7/0.2mm formats and can be supplied in 100M and 300M reels.
These can also be supplied in pre-cut lengths, either with a bare hot junction or a Teflon encapsulated tip.

Applications
Type RHTW High Temperature Wire is used for the internal wiring of ovens and other equipment operating at temperatures up to 1200F. Also used for electric heaters, blast furnaces, coke ovens, basic oxygen furnaces, and cement kilns.
Standard Features
Flexible, stranded 27% Nickle-clad copper conductor insulated with high temp composit mica/glass tapes and jacketed with an ultra high temp glass braid impregnated with a high temp finish. High Temp Wire listed by Underwriter's Laboratories, Inc. under Style No 5107 and rated at 450C and 600 Volts. Manufacturer rated 1200F and 600 Volts.

Validation Thermocouple Wire and Looms (VTFP):
It is a regulatory requirement when validating autoclaves and lyophilizers that Type T thermocouples of Class 1 material grade are used.
The VTFP validation thermocouple wire meets this requirement and is supplied either in pre-cut lengths from 1 metre upto 100 metre with a formed hot junction, the hot junction can be left bare or encapsulated in a Teflon tip. The cable can also be supplied on 100/300 metre long reels.
When considering the temperature mapping of large chambers and when multiple thermocouples are to be used, this material can be supplied as a cable loom. This approach eases the installation and general handling of multiple thermocouples and offers a more protective arrangement. All the conductors are identified with an ID number to ease location identity and connectivity.
When required the thermocouple cold junctions can be fitted with miniature or standard size thermocouple connectors.
