CYCLOPS

Air Motor Mixers
The Silverson L2/Air Laboratory Mixer
The Silverson L2/Air is an efficient, lightweight high shear mixer powered by an intrinsically safe 0.25 hp 6000 rpm variable speed compressed air motor suitable for ATEX Zoned/Explosion Hazard areas. The unit is supplied with a manually operated adjustable bench stand and can be fitted with speed regulator, muffler, air regulator and gauge, water filter and lubricator as optional extras.
The L2/Air will accept Standard, Tubular, In-Line and Duplex mixing assemblies from Silverson’s Laboratory range. Capacity is from 1 ml to 12 litres. A specially modified motor unit can be provided to accept Sealed Unit assemblies.
AX/Air
The Model AX/Air is a pilot scale high shear mixer with a capacity of up to 50 litres.

YTRON-ViscoTron is used for continuous incorporation of powders into viscous liquids as well as incorporation of more than 50 % solids into liquids, even in a single pass. Typical applications are the production of dow (ratio flour:water 50:59) or dispersing of additive into oil or a fat blend. JOGINDRA Container Mixer is specially designed for cold mixing process for all polymer powders or granules with colorants and or additives for concentrated master batches. The IKA® MHD-Plant serves for continuous "Inline mixing and dispersing" of powders into liquids.
Especially the quick and complete wetting of the solids (powders or granules) guarantees for a very good homogeneity and an extremely shortened duration of the process.
The mixing components are fed by means of a positive-displacement pump for liquids and a dosing device for solids, available with or without desaggregation device at your choice. The dust-free dosing makes working with this plant very comfortable.
On request the plant can be equipped with a complete measuring and control technique for automatic operation.
These mixing plants are available with total capacities of up to 40 t/h. With reduced flow capacity a solids content of up to 80% can be reached. In that case the ready mixed product is a highly viscous paste.

A new triple shaft Model VMC-40S Sanitary VersaMix was recently introduced. This unique mixer line is designed to provide maximum process flexibility to the user.
The VersaMix is constructed using all type 316 stainless steel wetted parts, polished to a 180 grit finish. The unit includes feature such as a self-contained high Shear Rotor Stator Mixer with SLIM for solids induction, a conventional High Speed Disperser, and a Three Wing Anchor with Teflon scrapers to clean the side walls of the vessel. The vessels are jacketed to heat or cool and these can operate to 29-1/2 hg vacuum and 15 psi internal pressure. The mixers and mix vessels are mounted on non-sparking caster wheels making the entire units portable.
Models are available from a one gallon bench top design to production sizes exceeding 4000 gallons. Change can and fixed tank designs are offered with features to suit the specific application for which they will be used.

The mixing hopper is made of heavy-gauge steel sheet. It is supported by two axles with four wheels that run on two guides and it is moved by two hydraulic cylinders. Inside the hopper is lined with wear-proof material subdivided into interchangeable parts. In the top part of the hopper there is the loading mouth which during loading and mixing is hermetically sealed by rubber seals in contact with the bottom part of the batching hoppers, thereby preventing dust and splashes of concrete from coming out. An inspection gate has been created on the top to view the mix. The discharging mouth is mechanically operated. During working operations it is in the middle-top part of the mixer, during unloading the tank is moved outwards and rotated to bring it down. The mixing shaft is formed by flanged arms carrying the semi-helix-shaped blades. The blades are composed of a fixed support and an interchangeable part subjected to wear. The rotation axle rests on a support subdivided into two completely separate parts. The outer part contains the bearings (on which the shaft turns). In the inner part of the mixer a set of labyrinth oil-bath seals are fitted to prevent material from coming out during mixing (automatic and manual greasing). An oil-bath reduction unit powered by a fluid power motor turns the shaft. The single-axle mixer (the heart of the system), owing to its operating system, can mix the various types of material with different specific gravities, such as light concretes, expanded concretes, expanded clay, polystyrene, sandy mixes, mortars and concretes of all classes (from S1 to S5 with no difficulty whatsoever). Owing to the layout of the helix-shaped blades which create a flow and a backflow, movement of the material inside the mixing case takes place by continuous lifting/overturning together with movements from right to left and vice versa. As may be easily understood and demonstrated, this type of motion is the most effective and allows the mixing of materials that differ from one another, both in terms of specific gravity and class (at the most the mixing time changes). In the case of very wet concretes (class S5) or with higher mixing time than standard, with this mixer no adverse effects take place on the material (segregation of materials) and no grout comes out of the discharge mouth, as occurs in other types of mixers with the outlet located in the bottom part during mixing. In addition, also with very dry concretes (class S1 ? slump 2/3) the effect of overturning the material warrants the quality of the mix.

EDUCTOR PRINCIPLES:
BEX eductors use a unique venturi design which enables smaller pumps to circulate large volumes of tank solution. The eductor will circulate four to five gallons of solution for each gallon pumped.

The CDS dispersion system enables the dispersion process to be carried out in single walled containers in a closed system under vacuum. The single walled containers are placed into the container receptacle and secured in place. If the dispersion process needs to be cooled a double walled container receptacle is available. After the liquid and powder components have been added, the glass cover can be lowered into place onto the container receptacle over the vacuum shaft guide tube. The actual dispersion process can now be carried out and the product set into a turbulence free rolling motion. If vacuum is required the vacuum pump can be switched on. The impeller height can easily be raised or lowered during the dispersion process even under vacuum. The dispersion process can clearly be observed through the large glass cover.
