Ductile iron pipes have the corrosion resistance of cast iron and almost the same strength and ductility of steel. Because of their high reliability, ductile iron pipes are widely used in pipelines to convey potable water, sewage water, agricultural or industrial water, gas, etc. Recently, there has been a strong demand for earthquake-resistance ductile iron pipes, especially those employing NS-type earthquake resistance joints, with about 50 percent of our current domestic-oriented shipments being earthquake-proof piping.
