RED615, member of ABB's 615 product series, is a phase-segregated two-end line differential protection and control IED perfectly harmonized for utility and industrial power systems, including looped and meshed distribution networks with or without decentralized power generation. Re-engineered from the ground up, the new 615 series has been designed to unleash the full potential of the IEC 61850 standard for communication and interoperability of substation automation equipment.
RED615 provides phase-segregated high speed, longitudinal differential protection for overhead line and cable feeders in distribution networks. Two RED615s interconnected over a communication link form an absolutely selective unit protection scheme. Protection of ring-type and meshed distribution networks generally requires unit protection solutions, also applied in radial networks containing distributed power generation.
Due to the ready-made adaptation of RED615 for the line differential protection, the IED can be rapidly set up and commissioned, once it has been given the application-specific IED settings. If the IED needs to be adapted to the special requirements of the intended application, the flexibility of the RED615 allows the IED's standard signal configuration to be adjusted.

MIB High Impedance Busbar Differential Relay
MIB High Impedance Busbar Differential Relay
The MIB, a member of the M II family of economical and highly functional digital protection relays, is a microprocessor based relay that provides three phase high impedance differential protection for Substation Bus-bars of any voltage level.
Use the MIB also to protect electrical machines like transformers, generators or motors against restricted earth faults.
Basic protection functions features include a high impedance differential protection unit with a tripping time of 1 1/2 cycles. Stability against external faults is guaranteed thanks to the use of a stabilizing resistor. The unit includes a set of MOVs (Metal Oxide Varistors) provided to clamp the secondary peak voltage below 2kV during fault conditions.
The relay includes open CT detection which provides an alarm when it detects sustained current unbalance conditions, issuing a warning signal and blocking the operation of the unit.

The L90, a member of the UR family of protection relays, is a digital current differential relay system which provides protection for transmission lines. It may be applied on or adjacent to series compensated lines for three phase tripping. The L90 utilizes an innovative current differential scheme with adaptive restraint that allows the relay to operate correctly even when fault currents are distorted by harmonics or CT saturation. Models are available for application on transmission lines with 2 or 3 terminals. The relay may be used as a standalone device or as a component of an automated substation control system.

Earth Leakage Relays
TemProtect Earth Leakage Relays are used to monitor earth fault current with a view to protect electrical equipment and personnel against the dangers of such faults.
Owing to the wide range of applications for the use of earth leakage protection, TemProtect has been designed to be as flexible as possible. The range includes relays suitable for installations with DIN rail, Panel or Base Mounting. All relays are suitable for use on a.c. systems and will be unaffected by d.c. components which may be present.
A range of combined relay and toroidal current transformer is also readily available.
The relays filter circuit inputs to safeguard against external disturbances in the system and offer the additional advantage of integral Test and Reset buttons, as well as integral Indication of Power and Trip.
All the Earth Leakage Relays which have separate toroidal transformers constantly monitor the connection to the toroid and will trip should an open circuit occur. They also offer the choice of automatic, manual or remote resetting after a fault has occurred.
All the relays comply to international standards including IEC 255.

The 7SD610 relay is a differential protection relay suitable for all types of applications and incorporating all those functions required for differential protection of lines, cables, transformers and busbars. Transformers and compensation coils within the differential protection zone are protected by means of integrated functions, which were previously to be found only in transformer differential protection. It is also well-suited for complex applications such as series and parallel compensation of lines and cables.
It is designed to provide protection for all voltage levels and types of networks; two line ends may lie within the protection zone. The relay features very high-speed and phase-selective short-circuit measurement. The unit is thus suitable for single-phase and three-phase fault clearance.
Digital data communication for differential current measurement is effected via fiber-optic cables, networks or pilot wires connections, so that the line ends can be quite far apart.
