In all automated processes the use of sensors to provide information for the plc is of prime importance. Sensors supply the necessary signals on positions, end stops, levels or serve as pulse transmitters for counting jobs or for monitoring rotational speed. In industrial usage inductive and capacitive proximity switches are indispensable. As compared to mechanical switches they offer almost ideal conditions: non-contact, maintenance-free operation, high switching frequencies and switching accuracies as well as high protection against vibration, dust and humidity.
Inductive sensors detect all metals without contact, capacitive sensors detect nearly all solid and liquid media such as metal, glass, wood, plastic, water, oil, etc...
Both inductive and capacitive proximity switches are available in NAMUR versions. In conjunction with an NV0100/NV0200 amplifier the sensors can be used in zone 1 hazardous areas (the amplifier which contains Zener barriers as well as power supply and output must be mounted outside the hazardous area).

In industrial processes where liquids, air or gases are used valves serve for dosing and control. There is a wide variety of valve types, butterfly or ball valves being the most common quarter-turn types.
In large plants these valves are seldom operated manually. Mechanical actuation is normally done by separate actuators. The valve position must be monitored electronically. This is necessary to give feedback to the controller when a certain position (e.g. "open" or "closed") is reached and to monitor the valves centrally from a control room.
Mechanical switches are still often used for position feedback on the actuator shaft. For other solutions several proximity switches are used together with a switching target for position detection. Disadvantage of these solutions: Mounting is mechanically complex. During switch mounting the signal wires can be reversed when they are connected in the top-mounted junction box. Where there are temperature fluctuations condensing humidity leads to corrosion and thus malfunction.

Inductive Proximity Switches SIMATIC PXI
Instinctive Response to Metal
When identifying metal objects without contact, inductive proximity switches are simply the most cost-effective solution. If an electrically or magnetically conductive object approaches or leaves, they automatically send out a signal change. Inductive proximity switches are extremely reliable with a high repeat accuracy. And thanks to wear-free operation as well as resistance to temperature, noise, light or water, they have a markedly long service life. We cover the complete application spectrum with a large variety of designs and transmission ranges.

Inductive proxistor's detect the presence of ferrous or non-ferrous metals without making contact and offer metal sensing unaffected by dirt, oil humidity & dust. This makes them particularly suitable for use in both the machine tool and general manufacturing environments where they are present in great volume and variety.

Inductive sensors (IAS) feature transistorised oscillators whose power consumption is influenced by the approach of metals and other electrically conductive materials such as carbon. Non-conductive metals can also achieve this effect.
These devices can be used as limit switches and position sensors for monitoring and positioning applica-tions in machines and installations as well as pulse generators for counter systems, distance measurements, speed control and many other applications

Inductive sensors
Inductive sensors use the interaction between metallic conductors and their electromagnetic alternating field. Eddy currents are induced in the conductor, which remove energy from the field and thus reduce the height of the oscillation amplitude.
This change is evaluated by the inductive sensor.
SensoPart offers a variety of inductive sensors with standard or enhanced working ranges.

Proximity sensors are the most common and affordable solution for no-touch object detection. The most commonly-used proximity sensor is the inductive type, which generates an electromagnetic field to sense metal objects passing close to its face. This is usually the easiest sensing technology to apply in applications where the metal object to be detected is within an inch or two of the sensor face. Autonics offers 12 products of 6 different types of proximity sensors, inductive and capacitive, and maintains No. 1 market share in Korea for more than 10 years, and still endeavoring to advance product quality and sensing reliability up to the top level of global marketplace. If you are looking for the most cost effective and reliable proximity sensors, Autonics is the answer.

Features
Introducing the newest member of the rectangular proximity sensor line, the GX-F/H series. This exciting new series offers an unprecidented level of stability, durability, and workability. Using advanced manufacturing techniques, SUNX is able to create sensors that are minimize part to part variance and offer a detection distance that only varies by a maximum of 0.4mm! The result is an incredibly stable detection that is suitable for usage in high volume applications where precision from installation to installation is imperative.
The environmental characteristics of the GX-F/H series further solidify its high-end performance, easily surpassing conventional products. The IP68g enclosure completely isolates the sensor from the effects of dirt, water, or oil allowing usage in very harsh environments. The series also exhibits an extrememly tight deviation of sensing characteristics, +/-8%, over its usable temperature range of -25 to +70 degrees C. Add in a 10X increase in vibration in shock resistance over our previous models and you are left with the most durable proximity sensor SUNX has created to date. Lastly, SUNX has added a metal sleeve in the mounting hole to increase tightening strength, and doubled the wiring gauge to make workability far easier then our previous models. Installation has never been easier. Download the full product catalog for more information or contact us today!
